About Functional Finance

The plumbing that makes insurance money add up.

Every policy touches five or six balance sheets before it expires. We make sure each one balances on its own.

Trusted by operators in insurance, premium financing, MGA programs, and distribution.

Why we exist

The systems that run insurance ops were built for general accounting, not for premium dollars. They don't know that a mid-term endorsement restructures commissions, that a cancellation owes refunds across three partners, or that a TPA settlement has to reconcile against a claim reserve. So insurance teams keep spreadsheets next to their ERPs. We replace the spreadsheets.

What general ledgers miss

Endorsements, cancellations, TPA settlements, broker overrides. Each one moves money the GL doesn't model.

What we add

A ledger that understands the policy, the producer, and the partner share. Reconciled when the event posts, not at month-end.

What Functional Finance is

Functional Finance sits between ERP/accounting and payment rails. It reads the policy, executes the financial logic that follows, and posts a reconciled row for every party. AI handles exceptions; the ledger stays exact.

The 80/20 problem nobody talks about

80% of transactions are fine.

Every vendor in the market handles this part. That is not where the pain is.

20% of transactions eat 80% of the work.

Missing commissions. Unaccounted return premiums. C-levels on calls that should have been automated. This is where relationships die.

Functional Finance exists for the whole picture.

Not just the easy 80%. The painful 20% where the real cost and the real damage live.

Our mission

Make the money behind every insurance policy add up to the cent, and explain itself when it doesn't.

AI handles interpretation, routing, and exceptions. Click any number to see the policy, the event, and the rule that produced it.

What we believe

Operators deserve better infrastructure.

Generic software forces operators to adapt their business to fit the tool. We build the other way: starting from operational reality and working back to the software.

Every number shows its work.

A figure should trace back to a contract, an event, a rule, or a deliberate choice. Operators need to trust their numbers to make good decisions.

Complexity is a feature, not a bug.

Multi-party payments, mid-term amendments, layered commissions, reconciliation across funding sources. We make it manageable, not invisible.

Partners, not lock-in.

The best infrastructure sits above the payment rail. We integrate with major payment processors. The goal is composability, not captivity.
